FTC Disclosure
In October, 2009, the Federal Trade Commission released official guidelines calling for endorsements made through blog posts or in other social media environments to disclose any "material connections" between advertiser and endorser, including direct payments and free samples of the products being discussed. These voluntary guidelines went into effect on December 1st, 2009.
My partner, Karl Kasca, author of the Attract More Visitors blog, and I believe very strongly in being upfront, genuine and authentic with our readers. Consequently, we subscribe to these new guidelines.
